An ideal qualification for anyone working in a sports environment. This course meets the requirements for a workplace emergency first aider and comprehensively covers various sports-related conditions.
Course Syllabus
Unit 1 – Emergency First Aid in Activities
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assess an emergency incident
- Administer first aid to a choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
- Provide first aid to a casualty in shock
- Minor injuries: Cuts, Grazes, Burns, Scalds, Splinters
Unit 2 – Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in Activities
- Secondary survey
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Suspected head, spinal and chest injuries
- Eye injuries, bites, and stings
- Anaphylactic Shock
- Major Illness: Heart attack, Stroke, Seizures, Asthma, Diabetes
- Effects of heat or cold: Shivering, Hypothermia, Dehydration, Heat exhaustion, and Hyperthermia

The assessment methods for this qualification are:-
Practical demonstration
The practical assessment of the learners is conducted throughout the course. On-going assessment will involve learners demonstrating practical first aid skills across a number of areas.
Multiple-choice question paper
Each candidate is assessed by completing a multiple-choice question paper. Pass mark 70%.
