Basic Life Support Level 2 FAQs

Basic Life Support refers to the initial care provided to someone experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, like cardiac arrest or choking. The goal is to preserve life until professional medical help arrives.

Anyone can benefit from Basic Life Support training, particularly those in workplaces where there is a risk of sudden medical emergencies, such as offices, schools, gyms, and community centres. The course may support a role in a workplace across any industry, particularly health care, or those
participating in any form of social, leisure or sporting activities.

Basic Life Support certificates are valid for one year. We recommend refreshing your training annually to keep your skills up to date.

Up to 12 learners can be facilitated per instructor, ensuring each learner receives personalised instructions and hands-on training. Larger group numbers can also be facilitated with additional instructors. Get in touch with our team today to learn more about our in-house Basic Life Support training

Yes, the course meets the requirements set by the Resuscitation Council UK guidlines for workplace basic life support training.

Successful learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification that’s regulated by Ofqual

No prior first aid experience is necessary as the course is designed for learners from various training levels and experiences, including those with very little or no previous first aid experience. This Basic Life Support course will provide learners with the skills they need to manage the common first aid emergencies in the workplace, including both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Yes, because our Level 2 Basic Life Support is delivered in-house, it can be fully tailored to suit your company’s specific risks and requirements. Our in-house approach ensures that the training is relevant to your team’s daily working environment, and they are trained on any risks that are unique to your workplace.

Proof of photo identification is required to attend all regulated courses. Otherwise, there’s no specialist equipment that you need to provide - everything that’s required will be facilitated by our instructors. Learners are advised to wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical exercises and bring a notepad and pen for taking notes.

The Equality Act 2010 requires training centres to make reasonable adjustments where a disabled person would be at a substantial disadvantage in undertaking an assessment. A request for a reasonable adjustment depends on several factors, including the needs of the individual. Reasonable adjustments should be applied before a learner is assessed. Accordingly, we ask that customers identify any reasonable adjustments in time for such adjustments to be made promptly.

Learners must be at least 14 years old* to enrol on the Level 2 Basic Life Support course. An understanding of English is also required to undertake the training and complete the multiple-choice assessments. Learners must demonstrate first aid procedures as part of their assessment, including providing CPR to a casualty on the floor, and so must be physically capable of this. Where learners are unable to perform practical tasks such as this, they may choose to take the QNUK Level 2 Award in Essential First Aid (RQF) course as an alternative.

*Please note that while learners aged 14-16 are allowed to complete the qualification, they shouldn’t be relied on by employers as the sole emergency first aider in the workplace.
