Unit 1 – Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Role and responsibilities of a first aider

Assessment method
Practical assessment
A practical assessment of the learners is conducted during the course. Ongoing assessment will involve learners demonstrating emergency first aid at work skills in primary survey, CPR, AED (Defibrillator), recovery position, choking, head-to-toe survey, application of various slings, administering first aid to a suspected spinal injury, demonstrating the use of an EpiPen and identifying life-threatening bleeds.
Theory assessment (multiple-choice question paper)
Learners are assessed by completing a multiple-choice question paper near the end of the course, consisting of:
40 questions
28 correct answers pass mark
60-minute time limit
