Course Syllabus
Unit 1 – Basic Life Support for Adults and Children
Basic Life Support: How to assess a casualty, ensuring you approach safely and use the correct procedures.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Learn the correct method for chest compressions and rescue breaths, suitable for adults and children.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Understand how to safely and effectively use an AED to increase a casualty's chances of survival.
Dealing with an Unconscious Casualty: Learn how to place someone in a recovery position while waiting for emergency services.
Choking Management: Gain confidence in helping someone who is choking covering adults, children and infant protocols.
This concise course offers hands-on practice to prepare you for real-life situations.
Assessment Method
The assessment involves a practical demonstration of your newly learned skills. You’ll be assessed on your ability to:
Perform competent CPR.
Use an AED safely.
Respond effectively to someone choking.
Correctly manage an unconscious casualty.
There’s no written exam, so learners are assessed on their practical competence.
