Course Description
Greatly improve the chances of survival from 6% to 74%. Designed to empower confidence in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), this course educates on the importance of prompt action in a life-threatening situation and the effective administration of combining cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with defibrillation. Training is highly recommended for places where a defibrillator is accessible.
Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for:
Healthcare professionals or first aiders in high-risk workplaces, such as construction, healthcare, or sports centres.
Where available individuals may be required to use an AED in an emergency situation when necessary.
Those interested in acquiring skills in responding to cardiac emergencies.
No prior first aid knowledge is necessary, learners should be a minimum of 16 years to undertake this qualification
Course Syllabus
Unit 1 – Maintaining and using an Automated External Defibrillator
During this course, you will cover the following:
The Role of the Responder: Understanding your role when responding to an emergency and managing the scene effectively.
Using an AED: Step-by-step instructions on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator, including safety precautions and recognising when it’s necessary.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Learn the correct technique for performing CPR, combined with AED use to increase the casualty’s chances of survival.
Unresponsive Casualty Management: Techniques to manage an unresponsive casualty safely, including placing them in the recovery position and monitoring their condition.
Choking Management: How to respond if someone is choking, including the appropriate first aid for both adults and children.
This course offers practical hands-on experience to ensure participants are well-prepared to handle real-life emergencies.

Theory Assessment
A multiple-choice question paper will be used to test your understanding of key assessment criteria..
